With its clean formula, fortified with silicon, rice starch and hibiscus extract, the Smoothing base Coat instantly fills in dents and smooths over imperfections in deformed, damaged and ridged nails. With deformed or damaged nails, it is not possible to achieve a smooth enough polish to protect your nails properly. The Smoothing base coat corrects dents, smoothing over the nail plate and thus prepares your nails to perfection so you can then apply two coats of coloured polish.
How to use our Smoothing silicon base coat
To use our Smoothing base coat properly, apply it to naked, oil-free nails. Remember to wash your hands with our oil wash before starting your manicure.
- Remove any excess polish from the brush before starting. Holding your brush flat, apply to the centre base of each nail, then spread outwards to the sides.
- Leave to dry for 2-3 minutes before applying the other manicure products: two coats of Opaque silicon nail polish and one coat of top coat.
- Repeat your full manicure every 5 to 7 days or as soon as the polish gets chipped.
Complete your manicure routine with:
- A coloured silicon nail polish.
- Our silicon top coat or the sparkling top coat to set the manicure, help it last longer, and make it shine.

Why choose the Smoothing base coat rather than the Protective base coat?
Our Protective base coat and Smoothing base coat both protect and strengthen fragile nails. However, if your nails have ridges, dents or imperfections, the Smoothing base coat will be more suitable: it smooths over the nail plate while promoting regrowth. Unlike the Protective Base Coat, which is clear, the Smoothing base coat has a touch of colour for a natural effect. It is the perfect solution for beautiful nails without polish.
Is the Smoothing base coat suitable for nails damaged by cancer treatment?
Yes, like all MÊME products, it is perfectly suitable for people being treated for cancer. A full manicure, with silicon and opaque products, can even help to protect and strengthen nails during treatment that is harsh on nails.
Can the Smoothing base coat protect my nails from UV rays?
The Smoothing base coat is clear, so it won't protect from UV rays when used alone. However, if you then apply two coats of silicon polish and one top coat, your nails will be well protected from UV rays.
Is the Smoothing base coat suitable for pregnant women?
Yes, with its body-friendly, bio-based formula, the Smoothing base coat is suitable for everyone, even pregnant and breastfeeding women, as is our entire nail care and polish range. Warning: you should only have very occasional manicures during pregnancy :)
